Old South
Church provides an engaging and comprehensive Church School program for
infants through Senior High School. Rooted
in the Scriptures and our Christian tradition, we share the love of God
and seek together a deeper experience of Christian faith. INFANT
and PRESCHOOL Infant and
Preschool rooms are open on Sundays from 9:45 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. and are staffed by trained volunteers and professionals. The Blue Room provides loving and tender care
for children, newborn to two years. The Green Room, for ages two through
five, offers
opportunities for play, crafts and Bible stories. THE ARTS
OF WORSHIP
This
Sunday morning program begins at 9:45 a.m. with informal fellowship and
activities. At 10 am church schoolers may participate in arts
activities, all of which are designed to enhance and deepen their
participation in worship. Activities include chime choir, voice choir,
drumming, drama and a variety of visual arts. Parents are invited to
participate in either this program or in adult education offerings. At
11 a.m. church schoolers will join the congregation for the first part
of worship and then proceed to their classes. WORSHIP
<>Every
Sunday
children from kindergarten
and up join the rest of the congregation in the sanctuary for the first
part of the service. They may worship with their classmates and
teachers or with their parents.CHURCH
SCHOOL CLASSES
Young
people from kindergarten through eighth grade
meet during the eleven o’clock hour for Church School.
Parent volunteers share responsibility for the classes with Church
School staff. They use the
Whole People of God, an
ecumenical, international and inclusive curriculum, focused on the
stories of the Bible and upon the
development of Christian faith. MUSIC TIMES
<>Music
time is a regular component of the Arts of Worship and Church School.
These times offer an opportunity to sing, play Orff instruments and
participate in a variety of musical activities. Students learn music
from a range of musical, cultural and church traditions. Children sing
in worship several times in the course of the year. CHIME CHOIR
A
chime choir, for those third grade and older, also meets on Sunday
morning for rehearsal, with periodic participation in worship. YOUTH
FELLOWSHIP
<>Young
people, ninth grade and older, meet at 10:00 a.m. for discussion and
action around issues of faith. The group goes on retreat and
participates in service projects.SUMMER
