A Place Where Life's Too Short for Long-Faced Religion

At Old South Church, we are confident that church doesn’t have to be boring. In our life together, we embody the belief that a life lived in relationship with God and God’s creation is one filled with depth, purpose, and excitement. In our worship, we find inspiration in the best of the Christian tradition—from ancient liturgical practices to the soaring and richly-hued architecture of our building—while at the same time opening ourselves up to new forms of expression that are meaningful, relevant, and sacred.

Our Thursday evening Jazz Worship pairs the emotive strains of jazz with the intimacy of our candle-lit Gothic chapel to offer a fresh retelling of the ancient stories of the Christian faith. Our First Worship service presents an in-the-moment style of preaching while reclaiming early American music and bluegrass to offer a worship experience that is informal and uplifting. Our signature Festival Worship is large and grand, yet vibrant and facing toward God’s future.

This is the excitement of the journey of faith at Old South Church.
