A Place of Mercy, Justice, and Beauty

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18-19)

As Christians, we are called to be part of God’s work of knitting the world back together, following in the steps of the One who lowered himself, and became a servant to all. Old South offers a range of opportunities to be of service to the world, from a prayer shawl ministry to our annual mission service trip to work with food pantries and meal service programs.

Old South members work with the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO) to help empower the fight for social justice. They tend our urban churchyard vegetable garden to feed hungry mouths at the Women’s Lunch Place. They work with Ecclesia Ministries/common cathedral to offer a place of worship and sense of dignity to those living without homes on the Boston Common. Our innovative Outreach Venture Capital Fund empowers Old South members to dream of and pursue ministries of justice and service in Boston and beyond.
