fun for our outing to the DeCordova Sculpture Park in Lincoln MA. We

carpooling to and from the church following the 11 am service. Contact

know you are coming so that enough cars may be secured for everyone.

FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO
Join Old South’s LGBTF Group and the Rev. Irene Monroe for lunch and a
screening of For the Bible Tells Me So. This Sundance documentary
examines
the stories of several Christian families as they come to terms with
having
a gay child. With commentary by Bishop Desmond Tutu, Peter Gomes, Rabbi
Steve Greenberg, and others. The Rev. Irene Monroe, who appears in the
film, will be speaking and answering questions. Rev. Monroe is an
African-American feminist theologian, ordained minister, religion
columnist, public theologian, and motivational
speaker.
ALL-CHURCH PICNIC
Sunday, June 1st following
11 am worship
Celebrate the coming of
summer at the All-Church picnic at Auburndale Cove in Newton. Enjoy
traditional picnic games and intergenerational softball. Hot dogs,
hamburgers, veggie burgers and condiments will be provided. Please
bring a dessert, salad, or non-alcoholic drinks to share. Don't miss
this traditional beginning of the summer season.
Bus transportation will
leave from Old South and return to Copley Square at 4 pm. Driving
directions will be available at the Front Desk.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU: Sunday,
May 18th during Fellowship Hour
following
11 am worship. All members and friends of our congregation who celebrate
their birthdays in May are invited to find and meet others who are
May-born! We will celebrate with candles, cake and song. The
Congregational Care & Support Committee hosts this monthly
celebration.
MOTHERS GROUP: The
Old South Mothers Group
invites mothers of all ages to join them for conversation, support,
education, fellowship and outreach. Chilcare is available. For more

CHANCEL
GUILD: A
new opportunity for service has been added to the Chancel Guild-to be
on call to help with the set-up and serving at receptions
after Memorial Services, installations, or other events. A few more
volunteers are also needed to press tablecloths, straighten closets,
polish silver or brass, etc. Volunteers would be scheduled on a
rotating basis, to serve about once per quarter. Call Betty Smith at
