Mold Closes Rare Book Room at Boston Library

Senior Minister Nancy Taylor, Church Trustees and our Historian are in touch with the Boston Public Library concerning this news. We have been assured that none of the books in our collection have been affected and that the Library is moving swiftly to contain the mold, clean the affected materials and institute proactive procedures to prevent a reoccurrence. A link to the story from the Boston Globe is provided below. Old South Church in Boston's collection is comprised of 2000+ rare books and manuscripts, most of them pertaining to early New England. Among these are included an excellent copy of the Bay Psalm Book, an Eliot Indian Bible (in Algonquin) and poems by the first woman published on this soil, Anne Bradstreet (Old South member and spouse of Governor Simon Bradstreet).
