John M. EdgertonInterim Associate Minister
617-536-1970
John has served as Interim Associate Minister of Old South Church since January 2012. Before coming to Old South, John served for two years as a full time minister at Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis through a fellowship from the Lilly Transition into Ministry Program. John received his M. Div. from the University of Chicago Divinity School in 2009, where he focused on biblical studies, preaching and worship leadership, and the intersection of faith and public life. John leads Old South’s First Worship service, Sundays, 9 am, where he has already fallen in love with the warm and intimate space of the Gordon Chapel. Originally from Chicago, John and his Brooklyn-born wife Heather live in Jamaica Plain. They love life in the city and are excited to have another great American metropolis to explore together. Their household is complemented by a large cat who sneezes a good deal more than most. On evenings off, John will most likely be found in the kitchen cooking dinner. For fun, Heather and John enjoy theater going as well as visiting museums and historical sites. They also play a wide variety of German board games which eliminate the element of chance. |
