Interracial But Not Integrated: African Americans, Indians, and New England's Colonial Churches
June 5, 2019
6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Attending services, being baptized, and taking the Lord's Supper, Native Americans and African Americans participated in New England churches 1730s-90s. They did so despite segregated seating and prohibitions from voting and being in leadership. Professor Richard Boles will speak about the religious lives of the African Americans and American Indians who affiliated with 18th century NE churches. This event will be held at the Old South Meeting House.
