Honoring Ben Franklin's legacy

On the 222nd anniversary of Benjamin Franklin's passing, April 17, 2012, The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology and Senior Minister Nancy S. Taylor, Old South Church in Boston, together celebrated Franklin and his legacy.

The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology is Benjamin Franklin’s living legacy in Boston. It evolved directly from his bequest of £1000 to “the Inhabitants of the Towne of Boston,” set forth in a codicil to his will dated 1789. Well over two hundred years after his death in 1790, his legacy continues to do great public good.

Old South Church in Boston baptized Franklin on the day of his birth in 1706. Prior to our current building, and even before our more famous ancestral home, the Old South Meeting House, the congregation worshipped in the Cedar Meeting House, 1669-1729.

As part of the evening, The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology honored Blair Brown, former Chair of the Board, with the dedication of the Brown Conference Room.
