Jessica Young Chang (she/her) is a third-year MDiv student at Harvard Divinity School who is excited about growth and transformation in individuals and communities through creative, embodied, mystical, and collective spiritual practices. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Jessica has a Performance Studies degree from Northwestern University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia College Chicago. Having cultivated a career in performance, writing, yoga and reproductive justice, Jess studies the intersections of mystical and embodied spirituality in Christianity and non-dual Tantra at HDS. During her second year, she served the HDS community as one of three chaplain interns, and this summer she completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Massachusetts General Hospital. This fall Jess is thrilled to join the clergy staff at Old South Church in Boston for a year-long internship as a seminarian. Jess is discerning a call to chaplaincy, ministry, and spiritual direction, and is specifically interested in the intersection of spiritual care and reproductive justice. Jess is pursuing ordination in the United Church of Christ, and is a member of First Church Somerville UCC.
