It's the most wonderful time of the year! We have many opportunities to celebrate the Season of Advent,
both in-person and online.
Sunday, December 12th at 11am, Guild Room 4th Floor
Make the yuletide gay this year by joining LGBTQIA+ and Friends in decorating Christmas cookies. Carols and cookies will be provided, but more cookies are always welcomed. Wear a festive sweater and be prepared for some good old fashioned merriment! For more information contact email@example.com
Our annual Advent Poetry Fest was a joyous success, featuring both music and poetry. Click below to watch the recording.
Ring in the Christmas season with the Old South Ringers handbell choir! The annual concert took place on Sunday, December 5th, and you can watch the recording by clicking below.
Families of the church will gather to assemble, pack and wrap Christmas gifts that we will then take to the streets to deliver to our unhoused neighbors. Please help us by adding to the gifts. We are now collecting the following items:
Physical items should be new, and can be brought (or mailed) to the reception desk. Monetary donations can be marked "Gift Boxes" and left for Kate at the front desk. RSVP to Kate at firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to come on December 18th!
Instead of our usual Christmas Flower donations, we will be directing the funds to the Allston-Brighton Food Pantry. The requested contribution is still $20. Click here and choose "Christmas Memorial" to make your gift. Your message in honor or memory of loved ones, or special occasions, can be entered on the second page of the donation screen or you can give anonymously. The list of messages will be available in the Sunday bulletin and online beginning December 13th. Questions? Contact Helen McCrady at email@example.com.
Did you swap out your shorts for your corduroys recently? Have you pulled out those sweaters and coats? Perhaps you found items that you simply do not use, or that you have outgrown? Please donate them to Ecclesia Ministries! Clean, gently used coats, hoodies, shirts, jeans, shoes, boots, etc., in adult sizes, preferably larger! Donations can be brought the church - and left with "Attn Kate" on the bag. Questions? Email Kate Nintcheu at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thursday, December 23rd at 6pm in the Sanctuary and online
While we’re bombarded with words lauding the wonders of the season, many people find the holidays anything but joyful. Blue Christmas provides an opportunity to step away and let go into music and readings that acknowledge your feelings without trying to talk you out of them. Even if you love the holidays, you may find comfort in this special service.
Please note that only the 5pm Pageant and 8pm service of Lessons & Carols will be livestreamed this evening.
5 PM ONLINE PAGEANT
Tune in online to watch "A Very Mixed-Up Christmas Pageant", a hilarious and clever rendition of the Christmas Story, told by Old South kids.
6 PM & 8 PM SERVICE OF LESSONS & CAROLS
An elegant telling of the Christmas story in carols and readings with music for choir and organ, culminating in the singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight. Childcare available.
11 PM LATE NIGHT CANDLELIGHT SERVICE
A warmly traditional service with festive carol singing and lessons. We greet the birth of Christ by singing "Silent Night" outdoors by candlelight just after midnight.
