Honoring the Rev. Nancy S. Taylor

Rev. Nancy S. Taylor has served as the 20th Senior Minister of Old South Church in Boston since 2005. Throughout the years, her bold, forward-thinking vision has cemented this historic church as a beacon of justice and a sanctuary in the city in the 21st century.

She has fiercely and courageously led us through navigating the crack in our building, selling the Bay Psalm book, becoming a level 2 sanctuary church, growing from just one worship service to three, tripling our stewardship, creating our beloved Blessing of the Athletes service, leading us through our 350th anniversary, and ministering us through a global pandemic. We are so blessed to have had Rev. Taylor at the helm for the past 17 years.

Nancy S. Taylor Leadership Fellowship

Revs. Nancy Taylor, June Cooper, Shawn Fiedler, Katherine Schofield, and Seminarian jessica young chang at the Old South Meeting House in 2021.Old South Church in Boston has always been a teaching church. Rev. Taylor’s commitment to nurturing, guiding and mentoring seminarians and beginning ministers is a hallmark of her tenure at Old South Church. To honor and preserve this legacy, Church Council approved the creation of the Nancy S. Taylor Leadership Fellowship that will be funded through an endowment and offered annually to a seminary student. The “Taylor Fellow” is in addition to the seminarian Old South already supports, and will target seminary students in their third or final year.  The Taylor Fellow will serve the church from 12-15 hours per week and have a selected area of focus to further advance and expand Old South’s diverse ministries and the Fellow’s gifts and skills.

We are excited to create this lasting tribute to our 20th senior minister and first woman to lead Old South to carry on Nancy’s unwavering commitment to fostering ministers and leaders.
