Intro Text
(7th-8th grades)
On Sunday afternoons mornings at 10:00 a.m., students in 7th and 8th grades are invited to participate in our confirmation class. When we say "confirmation" it means two separate things. First -- there is this class, which meets weekly during the school year where we learn about the history of the church developed from the disciples to today and think about what faith is and what it means to us personally. We hope that all students in this age range will choose to participate in this class experience, and that families will make it a priority. Second -- at the end of this class students will be given their first opportunity to join Old South Church as a full member. Participation in the class does not mean that each student will choose to become confirmed as a member. We guide students through a process of discernment so that they might make the choice that is right for them, and celebrate their decisions - because knowing one's mind and heart is a difficult journey. Confirmation class includes worship visits to other worshiping bodies quite different from our own, a service project, and occasional activities on Sunday afternoons. Confirmation class gathers from 10am - 10:50 in the Phillis Wheatley Room (4th floor) and is conducted in a hybrid format allowing students to zoom in from home.
