Old South opens its doors to the city, to inquirers, to tourists, to those in need, and to a congregation (of members, friends and family—both the curious and the committed) who call this their church home. As a progressive, vibrant, and diverse Christian congregation in the heart of Boston, we continue to outfit ourselves for tender ministries of mercy, justice, and beauty in the 21st century.

Inspired by Jesus’ extravagant welcome, Old South has for more than three centuries sought to advocate for the marginalized and the oppressed. Our life as a community is grounded in our belief in the presence of the Living God whom we come to know through a life shaped by the rhythms of worship, prayer, scripture, generosity, kindness, and hospitality.

In our worship (a defining and formative act of Christian community) we draw on a variety of traditions, from ancient to contemporary. These are expressed differently and beautifully through our four services of worship: First Worship (informal & vibrant), Festival Worship (grand & expressive), Jazz Worship (with soul & sax), and Healing Worship (gentle & tender). Through a broad program of service, outreach, education, and fellowship, we strive to be part of God’s work of mending the world. And in all things, we rely upon the healing, unconditional nature of God’s love and grace to be our help and guide.

Old South's doors and Sanctuary are open to the public seven days a week (except for national holidays):
Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (or later)
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Sunday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
