Paper Crane Project

“The crane has always been a strong symbol of success and good fortune in Japanese culture, and when folded into origami, it is believed that your heart's desire will come true.”

Paper Crane Project

As we open a new door as a country and move with hope towards making our community and world safe again both in health and in our government and leadership, we would like to fill our portico with paper cranes as symbols of peace, hope and our heart’s desire. We are hosting an all church art project of making these cranes to hang in an art installation to be presented to the church and the community on Easter Sunday.

If you would like to take part in this project, please email Ralph Watson at ralphwatson258@gmail.com.  Ralph will then send you a package with origami folding instructions, on-line YouTube links with instructions and paper to make the cranes.  We will also include an envelope with a return address for you to mail your finished cranes to the church, or you can email Ralph to make arrangements to have them picked up at your home in a safe way.  This project will run from the beginning of February and we hope to have all of the finished cranes returned to the church by March 24th.  Our goal is to start with 500 cranes and see how much higher we can go from there. Pam Roberts is working on an illustration of what the installation will look like and we will share that soon.  We hope you and your family will consider taking part in the fun and joyful project!
