Children’s & Family Ministries continue online while COVID-19 keeps us physically apart. Children continue to participate in Sunday church school. Parents continue to stay connected through newsletters and social media. Opportunities for service and sharing continue. To join us - please contact Director of Children & Family Ministries Kate Nintcheu firstname.lastname@example.org.
Summer schedule note: Every few weeks we celebrate “Sunday Funday” where no formal classes are held, but we provide activities for engagement or service to do at home alone or as a family.
(children ages 3 - rising 3rd grade)
For our youngest students, we prepare a pre-recorded video that goes live at 8:45am on Sundays. Links to the week’s lesson are included in the Friday Make Belief newsletter. This class is invited to an optional zoom video ‘worktime’ chat with teacher Elizabeth Perry each sunday at 9:30.
(rising 4th-5th grades)
These students encounter the same lesson as younger students, but via a Zoom video conference with their teachers and classmates live. They dig a little deeper into material - and have an opportunity to continue their bonds with each other and their leaders face-to-face.
(rising 6th-7th grades)
During the school year, this Meet the Ancestors class explored the ancestors and books of the Old Testament. So during the summer, we’re taking it a little easy revisiting some of those ancestors through movies and shows! First up has been Prince of Egypt. Next we’ll explore Evan Almighty. Finally we’ll look at Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
(rising 8th-9th grades)
While our official class is finished - students in these grades are invited to join teacher Rory each week for trivia games, short films and discussions. We’re extremely relaxed and will keep showing up as long as you do! This class will join the Youth Group in the fall.
(rising 10th - 12th grades)
Youth Group meets at 11:00 a.m. on zoom while we’re online - gathering with leader Martha Schick and assistant Jimmy Kamel. Primarily we meet to stay connected, we check in, play games and have scavenger hunts. Contact Martha (email@example.com) for more information.
For parents - our primary connection tool is through our weekly Make Belief newsletter that goes out on Fridays mid-day. In addition to this regular communication, we have added a closed “Facebook Group” where parents can check in with each other and Kate, and share some of what is going on, humor, and inspiration.
